Aisar Labs

Private. Small. Frugal. Sustainable.

We build AI that runs on the devices you own — not in someone else's data center. Research and infrastructure for a future where capable intelligence is local by default, efficient by design, and independent of any single provider.

Modern AI is enormous, expensive, and dependent. Frontier models live in a handful of hyperscale data centers. Every query pays rent in tokens, energy, and data. The systems that will shape the next decade of work are being built on infrastructure most people will never own and cannot inspect.

We think there's a different path. Capable AI doesn't have to be huge, hungry, or hosted by strangers. Small models — carefully trained, carefully quantized — are closing the gap with frontier systems. Edge hardware is getting faster and cheaper every year. The interesting frontier isn't scale. It's efficiency.

Aisar Labs is a research lab working toward private, small, frugal, sustainable AI. Open source by default. Production-grade by design.

Frontier research, grounded in real deployment.

Our research is shaped around production constraints — not isolated demos. Every experiment is designed to move closer to systems people can actually use.

On-device by default

Capable AI that runs where your data already lives. No cloud round-trips, no tokens paid in data exhaust. Local-first inference, edge deployment, and architectures designed for networks you control.

Compact models, real work

Sub-billion-parameter models, carefully trained and quantized, doing the jobs that used to require hyperscale endpoints. Distillation, compression, and architectural research that closes the gap with frontier systems.

Minimal compute, maximum reach

Sub-watt inference. CPU-first runtimes. Tight memory budgets. The interesting frontier is efficiency — how much real capability fits in how little silicon, energy, and RAM.

Long-lived, independent, open

Open weights and reproducible training. Systems that outlive any single vendor, can be inspected by anyone, and keep working without continuous data-center dependence. AI as durable software, not a leased service.

We're building in the open. Follow the journey.
